A fascinating scent can be a wonderful thing, but it doesn't matter if the product has been cruelly tested on animal. You should also be concerned if the cologne contains animal-derived components (such as oils from an anus).
Vegan perfume is the best choice for animals and for the environment. It would be a great idea to choose a company that uses sustainable ingredients and has a pleasant aroma.
This guide is part of our Vegan Bath, Body & Beauty series. It features the top vegan perfume brands. Many of these perfumes are great for both men and women, no matter where you are on the gender spectrum. You may even want your partner to share these items.
There's something for everyone, from big-name copycat mixes to exquisite, nontoxic essences.

What Makes Perfume Not Vegan?
Is vegan perfume possible? There is. If the perfume ingredients are not made from animal by-products, it is cruelty-free and vegan. There is also no testing on animals at any stage.
If it contains any of the following ingredients, a perfume, cologne or fragrance is not vegan.
- Ambergris (sperm-whale secretions)
- Castoreum, Civet and Kasturi are anal secretions of mammals.
- Honey (read more about honey's vegan status)
- Lanolin (fat and wool wax from sheep)
- Musk (from the stomach of a male musk-deer)
You should be aware that some perfumes might contain milk or beeswax.
What are the differences between different perfumes?
There are five types perfumes. They vary depending on how much concentrated perfume oil is added to the mixture. The types range from the simplest to the most complex.
- Eau Fraiche (1-3%)
- Eau de Cologne (2-6%)
- Eau de Toilette (5-15%)
- Eau de Parfum (15-20%)
- Pure Parfum (15-40%)

DIY Perfume Recipe
You're in the right place if you are passionate about creating your own perfume. This is how you can make your own signature, all-natural perfume in just minutes.
You will need a few essential oils, a small container with a cork or screw-on lid and a stopper. Are you ready to create your signature scent?
DIY Perfume
Equipment
-
1 glass roller ball 10ml ( / HTML3_ 3 ounces)
Ingredients
- 10 drops orange essential oil or any citrus essential oil
- 10 drops lavender essential oil or any herbal essential oil
- 10 drops vanilla oil any warm essential oil (or vanilla extract)
- 2 tablespoons Jojoba oil and any other base oil (such a almond, olive or grapeseed)
Instructions
-
The bottle should be sterilized the night before. Take off the cap, roller ball and fill it with boiling water. Let it sit overnight, or use the dishwasher to run through it. This will prevent perfume oil from rotting and eliminate any harmful bacteria.
-
Slowly add 10 drops each of the essential oils to the bottom of the glass perfume container. When adding oils, be careful. Some oils are quick to come out of the bottles, while others take longer.
-
Take the bottle in one hand and gently swirl the oil into the other.
-
Slowly add the base oil slowly to the glass container. It may not be enough to add the two teaspoons. Continue to add until the bottle reaches the neck. Then, stop. Don't pour to the top, as you will need to add the rollerball part. To blend well, repeat Step 3.
-
The roller ball section should be pressed back into the bottle's top. To test the scent, roll the roller ball section on your inner wrist. Once you are satisfied with the result, screw the cap on and store the bottle upright in a cool and dry place or in a cabinet for up to three months. Enjoy!
Notes
- Top notes (Citrus and Aromatic Essential Oils) Grapefruit, Tangerine or Bergamot
- Middle notes (Floral, Green or Fruity or Spicy Essential Oils). Rosemary. Jasmine. Rose. Ylang-Ylang.
- Base notes (Warm and Deep Essential oils): Sandalwood. Patchouli. Benzoin.
DIY Solid Perfume Recipe
We also have a recipe to make solid perfume if you prefer it! This recipe is easy to make using just three ingredients: candelilla wax, jojoba oils, and essential oil. These are great for gifts during the holidays.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you replace meat in a plant-based diet?
There are many creative vegan alternatives that can replace meat in a plantbased diet. Tofu (wheat gluten), seitan (wheat protein), tempeh, fermented soybeans, and mock duck made of mushrooms can all be substituted for traditional meats. Vegetarian burgers made from black beans and quinoa can also be as good as beef burgers. Tofu mayo, eggplant bacon bits or coconut bacon strips; vegetable hot dogs made from seasoned textured soybean protein; and faux chicken strips made from wheat gluten are all tasty alternatives. You can alter recipes to use fruits, vegetables, beans, seeds and nuts as well as vegetables and grains. There are many other ways to enjoy plant based meals, including roasting, baking, and steaming.
What are the advantages of eating plant-based protein?
The main problem with plant-based meat is its lack of essential vitamins or minerals. Plant-based meat has lower levels of certain essential amino compounds, vitamin B12 and iron. These nutrients are found in greater amounts in animal protein sources. Additionally, some plant-based meats contain more sodium than real meat due to the abundant amount needed for preservation. Additionally, quality vegan products can be more expensive and take longer to get from online stores or grocery stores. Vegan alternatives might require more work during cooking, and may take longer to prepare.
Is it possible for a plant-based diet to help you lose weight?
Yes, you can lose weight with a plant-based lifestyle. It is possible to get enough volume from eating a variety fruit and vegetable, legumes, fruits, nuts, seeds, and other protein-rich plants without adding any extra calories. A well-rounded vegan meal plan is usually low in saturated fat and cholesterol-containing foods like red meat and processed snacks that tend to add weight instead of take it away. Research suggests that a plant diet can boost metabolism and lower obesity risk factors, like inflammation. Eating healthy foods rich in fiber and avoiding starches, sugars, white bread, and pasta can further help weight loss and provide essential vitamins and minerals that the body needs to be healthy.
Are you able to get enough protein with a plant-based lifestyle?
Yes, you can get enough proteins from a plant-based diet. The amino acids you need to build muscle, stay healthy, and maintain your health can be found in nuts, legumes and seeds as well as grains. Tofu, as well as other soy products, has all 9 essential amino compounds that the body cannot create and must get from food. If combined with legumes, vegetables such as spinach, kale and other grains, these veggies can provide the necessary protein for proper nutrition. Plant-based proteins tend to have lower levels in saturated fats than animal protein and can be used to support long-term satiety. Additionally, adding omega-3 fatty acids in things like flaxseeds, chia seeds, walnuts, or hemp seeds can help balance other essential nutrients on a plant-based diet.
Can I eat egg on a plant-based food diet?
A plant-based diet does not allow eggs. This dietary lifestyle eliminates all animal products, including meat, fish, poultry, and eggs. Many vegan alternatives to traditional egg-centric dishes have similar taste and texture, but do not rely on animal products. Tofu scrambles or eggs can be made into great breakfast dishes. It can also replace eggs with plant-based protein. For example, chickpea flour or mashed banana can be used for binding in baked goods. Aquafaba (the liquid that comes in chickpea cans) can also substitute for eggs in making meringues. Flaxseed meal or Chia seeds mixed with water can be used as an egg substitute to preserve non-vegan dishes without compromising their taste.

How To
How can you make the transition to a plant based diet without feeling overwhelmed?
Although it can seem daunting to switch to a plant based diet, it is possible with the right preparation and education. Begin slowly, taking baby steps, and gradually incorporating the changes necessary to your diet. Opt for whole foods rather than processed substitutes, as they are generally healthier and more filling.
It is important to be dedicated when it comes to meal planning and preparation. You should plan your meals in advance so you know what ingredients to purchase and how much time each dish will take. Multi-cookers and slow cookers can be a great investment. Batch cooking allows you to make multiple meals in one sitting.
Finally, don't forget to keep experimenting with new flavors that you may enjoy. Different cuisines can offer a variety in your vegan diet. Think Chinese tofu and Indian curries. You should create a grocery shopping list that is based upon recipes and not rely on impulse buying at the grocery stores. With the right ingredients and preparation tips, making the switch will become easier over time!
